Love in Motion: 5 Reasons why you should Hire a Wedding Videographer

Love in Motion: 5 Reasons why you should Hire a Wedding Videographer.

Here is one article where I would do less writing about wedding photography and focus on another aspect of your wedding package - wedding videography.

There are many misconceptions about the services of a wedding videographer.

Oftentimes, when I have a sit-down with my prospective clients and make mention of a wedding videographer, I see the questioning looks on their faces and the doubt they have about their importance.

  • Are you sure it’s necessary, Kareem? After all, I’ve booked a wedding photographer

  • What makes it different from photography?

  • Is it worth booking one?

  • What if I get my cousin to set up a camera on a tripod and film me? It’s just filming, right?

I’ve worked alongside a handful of amazing wedding videographers, seen the impact of their works, post-wedding, and I can boldly tell you that a wedding videographer is 100% worth it. You might not believe it, but you will before you get to the end of this article.

Ladies and gentlemen, shall we begin?

1. For the sake of ‘forever’ memories

I can bet you’ve got a favorite movie you watch at least twice a year. Now imagine, how many times you’ll watch your wedding movie where you, your spouse, with your family and friends are the real characters - not once, twice, but countless times, over and over again. You would replay it on your wedding anniversaries, Valentine’s day, or on a random cool Wednesday evening. And when the babies come (if you decide to have them), you’ll play it to them too, telling them of how glorious that day was. This is one movie you will never get tired of watching. Trust me, the memories never get old.

2. Audio makes the difference

The giddy feelings when you and your girls are getting dressed up; the knottings of ties; the way your cheek bones rises when you smile while reading your love letters; the gleam in your groom’s eyes when you sneak up behind him during your first look photo session; the moment the audience rise at the grand entrance; the slight crack in your groom’s voice when reels out his vows; and all the silly moments in between posing for photos.

All these beautiful moments can be captured in photos to some extent, but the movements and audio in videos make the difference. You get to feel the vibes and energy in real-time. Audio is what differentiates photos from videos; photos  are silent. With videos, you get to hear your vows the exact way you said them; you’ll hear the emotions behind every word, speech, toast, vows, screeches, and applauds. Audio is everything!

3. Your love story told by you

If you think a photo speaks a thousand words, how many words do you think 30 seconds of your wedding film would say? The documentation of your best-day-ever in a film captures all the moments that lead to your I do’s and even after. Most videographers set up short interviews where you get to tell your love story: how you met, when you fell in love, and how you knew you were meant to be together. They’ll also incorporate a few shots from your engagement photo session into your love story to make it all perfect. See why I told you photographers and videographers complement each other?

4. For the moments you missed

It’s a fact that you’ll be very busy on your wedding day. There’ll be a lot of activities going on and you will miss some top moments that are important to you. All the moments you think you missed will be beautifully captured in your video. You’ll get to see the day differently through the eyes of your guests.

That funny dance between your cousin and grandma, the ring bearers and flower girls’ walk down the aisle, your guests’ reactions to your vows, the beautiful architecture of your church or reception venue, your bridesmaids’ teary faces when you walked down the aisle will all be featured in your wedding film. Your wedding videographer knows the importance of these moments and will ensure that not a single moment is missed.

5. For the ones who couldn’t make it

The pandemic has got most couples settling for smaller intimate weddings, and even elopements. Surely, there’ll be a favorite aunt or uncle that wouldn’t attend, a friend that lives far away in another continent, or a grandparent whose knees are weak. A clip of your wedding film will go a long way in making them feel like they were present at the wedding. They’ll get to experience all the emotions and catch all the exciting moments of your wedding. Most videographers make shorter clips that are easily shareable on social media platforms, so you can also have your online friends watch too.

A very popular bridal magazine once quoted a bride saying her biggest regret is not hiring a wedding videographer. We don’t want you to be that bride.

So if you are ready to book a videographer for your wedding, send me an email. I'll be glad to recommend the best videographers in town I’ve worked alongside with.

Yo! That’s MY wedding video:
